The calm before arrival of kids.

Our penultimate school visit of the 2017 season. Brook Park Memorial Elementary where we were greeted with enthusiastic open arms by Jenifer Csiszar the instructional coach who arranged our visit.

We did a couple assemblies – one for the K thru second graders then one for the third thru fifth. Afterwards we each did a couple workshops – I wrote some definition poems with 4th graders and some simile pieces with third. Sara did similes with some third graders and a “feelings made visual” workshop with some 2nd graders.

And here they are!

As is so often the case – we wish we had more time with these kids. The day just flew by and before we really got rolling it was over.

Sara and I both were so moved working with these sweet kids that we both were saying on the way home that we need to figure out a way to visit there again – and soon.

Writing definition poems about big concept words.

Meanwhile – off to Connecticut tomorrow and three days at Eastern Middle School – our traditional last school visit of the year.

So schools almost out – hope to see you at a conference over the summer somewhere – or maybe on the bike paths. This has been a jam-packed year and we are so lucky to be doing a job we love so much.
